Manchester United have recruited a helping hand in their bid to land Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, a journalist claims.

The Serbian midfielder had a standout season in Serie A, recording 12 league goals from midfield.

His form, coupled with his side’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League, has seen him linked with a number of top European clubs.

Milinkovic-Savic is valued upwards of €150m (£132m) by his club, and has been heavily linked with Manchester United.

Now, Di Marzio journalist David Amoyal has revealed that Jose Mourinho has enlisted help in his pursuit of the 23-year-old.

“Man Utd definitely likes Milinkovic-Savic, but at the moment they are not sure they want to spend €100m on a player who is not guaranteed to be a starter since Fred, Matic and Pogba are slated to be the starters,” he told the Calcioland podcast.

“I have a feeling (Jorge) Mendes is going to be used in here as an intermediary and that can only be good for Manchester United.”
