Mourinho eyes £90m Tottenham pair as part of £180m Man Utd triple raid

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to splash out £180million on three new signings this summer, with two of them reportedly from Tottenham.

United have had an improved season under the Portuguese tactician but are still way back rivals Man City in the ace for the Premier League title and Mourinho is already looking to the summer to improve his first XI and try and challenge Pep Guardiola’s men next campaign.

The Daily Mirror claims that Mourinho wants a new centre-back, a left-back and a holding midfielder.

Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld and Borussia Dortmund stopper Sokratis Papastathopoulos are said to be Mourinho’s top defensive targets this summer.

However, United know Spurs will not let Alderweireld move on without a fight, meaning that the Red Devils could turn their attention to the cheaper option of £20m-rated Papastathopoulos instead.

The Mirror also adds that Lazio ace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is Mourinho’s top midfield target.

With Michael Carrick retiring at the end of the season to take up a coaching role with the club and Marouane Fellaini likely to leave Old Trafford, not to mention doubts over Paul Pogba’s long-term future, United need reinforcements in the midfield engine room.

As for United’s left-back issues, Mourinho sees Tottenham star Danny Rose as an ideal replacement for Luke Shaw – who could move in the opposite direction as part of a swap deal.

The Mirror goes on to state that Rose would love to head to Old Trafford this summer to work with Mourinho, having spent more than 10 years at Spurs.
