Willian has rejected late advances from both Manchester United and Tottenham to agree a move to Arsenal, according to reports.
The winger is a free agent this summer having turned down Chelsea’s offer of a two-year deal. Instead, Willian will sign on for three years at Arsenal.
And ESPN Brasil claim Arsenal will confirm the signing of the Brazilian ‘in the coming days’. That’s after he rejected late approaches from both United, Manchester City, Tottenham and clubs in MLS.
The Athletic report that Arsenal’s offer is not financially better than the one he has received from Inter Miami. However, Willian is keen to join the Gunners because of Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu.
Various reports claim his Arsenal deal will be worth £128,000 a week.
It’s claimed that Arteta has been leading Arsenal’s push to sign Willian as he is keen to add experience to his squad.
Willian’s departure to Arsenal will come as a big blow to Frank Lampard.
He admitted he wanted Chelsea to keep Willian at Stamford Bridge, but understands the decision.
“He’s been a great servant for Chelsea. He’s been brilliant for me this season with his input and work ethic. But if he decides to move on then we obviously will move on as well,” Lampard said.
“I know the situation from the club’s end so it’s his choice and I respect that.”
Kai Havertz a step closer to Chelsea
Chelsea, meanwhile, are closing in on a deal for Kai Havertz.
Lampard has identified Havertz as his top target and Chelsea are widely believed to be working on a deal.
Now it’s emerged they are the only side actively pursuing his signature following a declaration made by Bayern Munich.
