Mourinho sends Man Utd scouts to check on £18m-rated striker
Manchester United are plotting a move for Club Brugge strike sensation Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis, according to reports in the Belgium-based media.
Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws claim Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will go head-to-head with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola for his signature.
Despite claims elsewhere insisting Mourinho will delay a fourth signing until January, it appears Dennis is on the Red Devils’ radar.
The 19-year-old, touted already in the £18million bracket, has been linked with a move to Man City and Leicester, and plays predominantly as a striker.
He has also scored four goals in the opening three Belgian league games of the season, scored another in Champions League qualification, and has been scouted by Europe’s top clubs.
The report states that United’s ‘club spies’ were ‘checking on him last September’. The teenager first burst onto the scene at Ukrainian side FC Zorya Luhansk where he scored six goals in 22 games last season.
It is said all three Premier League clubs watched the striker as Brugge faced AEK Athens in the Europa League last night.
Monaco and Borussia Dortmund are also believed to be admirers of Dennis and had scouts in attendance at the Jan Breydel Stadium as they played out a 0-0 draw.
