Luke Shaw: Defender called out by Jose Mourinho

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is expected to hand several fringe players the chance to impress when they take on Feyenoord in Thursday’s Europa League clash.

Wayne Rooney is among those afforded a rest, with the player left behind in Manchester, while the likes of Chris Smalling, Michael Carrick and Memphis Depay are all hoping for their first starts of the season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and David de Gea will travel to Rotterdam, but Rooney, Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw are all absent.

Phil Jones, who is among a number of players yet to appear this season, missed training on Wednesday and will not travel, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan is also expected to miss out.
