Mourinho will sign another 4 players in the summer, says BBC pundit
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will bring in as many as four new signings in the summer, according to Mark Lawrenson.
Mourinho has brought in Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and latterly Alexis Sanchez this season, but his United side are still streets behind neighbours Man City.
And BBC Sport pundit Lawrenson believes Mourinho will be looking to add numerous new players in the summer as they try and close the 13-point gap on City.
“Obviously they’re a little bit closer to Manchester City but I would say probably three or four, which ultimately because Jose always gets his way, he will get three or four in the summer,” Lawrenson.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt about that whatsoever because as you can imagine the fact that City are running away with the league will seriously hurt somebody like Jose.”
Mourinho signed Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba the previous summer and his spending has totalled around £300million, but Lawrenson still believes United have areas to strengthen.
“I think again another creative midfield player, the full-backs are converted wingers and they’ve done okay, but I think probably Jose would need to change his full-backs,” added Lawrenson.
“I know Shaw has just got back in the team but he still doesn’t look like the Shaw that they originally signed from Southampton.
“And knowing Jose, he’ll probably go and buy another centre-back because he loves having about 10 of them!”
