The financial details of Daniel Sturridge’s transfer to Trabzonspor have been revealed, with the striker negotiating a lucrative signing-on fee.

The former Liverpool man left Anfield and joined the Turkish outfit earlier this month as a free agent, and details of the financial package that lured him to Turkey have been reported.

Sturridge has said that the club’s fans on social media played a factor in his decision to make the move to the Turkish Super Lig, but the deal received by the 29-year-old is pretty lucrative.

Turkish-Football report that Sturridge will earn £27,000 a-week with a £1.8m signing-on fee which will be paid for each season he stays at the club over the length of his contract.

The former England forward has signed a two-year deal, with the option of a further year, therefore he would be due £5.4m in signing-on fees if he honoured the deal.

It has also been reported that his agent is due eight percent of the fees involved in the deal.

“Trabzonspor fans really made me aware of how big this club is and how much they wanted me over social media. I have to say it played a big role in convincing me to join,” said Sturridge after he was unveiled over the weekend.

“I want to thank the fans and everyone who reached out.

“I hope I can repay the love they have shown me and give something back to this great club and city.”

Sturridge cannot feature against AEK Athens in the Europa League playoff second-leg clash as he is was not registered in time, but he could make his debut against Fenerbahce on Sunday.
