Napoli hope agent can convince Man Utd to lower Darmian price
Napoli are hoping to use super-agent Jorge Mendes to help them sign Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian this summer, it is claimed.
Mendes is the man behind several of Wolves’ big-name purchases this summer, and Napoli are hoping he can assist them in their efforts to take Darmian back to Italy.
Darmian has publicly stated his desire to leave Manchester this summer, with personal terms reportedly being agreed with Juventus. However, the Serie A champions were put off by United’s asking price for the 28-year-old.
Now, Napoli are hoping to take advantage of the situation, and La Gazzetta Dello Sport claims they will use Mendes to try to make United lower their asking price.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side had been linked with Lille’s Kevin Malcuit, also a target for Southampton, in the full-back positions, but have put talks on hold as they try to find an agreement for Darmian. They have already made a loan offer for the ex-Torino man.
The Italy international’s contract at Old Trafford expires next summer, although the Red Devils have the option to extend it by a further year.
