Napoli have joined the race for Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri, but face two Serie A rivals for his signature, according to a report.

Emerson previously blossomed in Serie A with Roma before switching international allegiances from Brazil to Italy, and a trio of clubs are now interested in taking the Chelsea man back to his adopted homeland.

The left-back has been warned by Italy manager Roberto Mancini that he should consider returning to Serie A if he wants to keep his international hopes alive, and those comments seem to have attracted the attention of several clubs.

Juventus have so far been the most closely linked with Emerson, given his connections with former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri, who is now in the hotseat at the Allianz Stadium.

However, another former Blues boss, Antonio Conte – the man who originally brought him to Stamford Bridge – is also considering a move for his current club Inter Milan.

That’s according to Goal, who add that Napoli have now emerged as contenders for Emerson as well.

Faouzi Ghoulam is unsettled at the Stadio San Paolo and may look for a way out, while Emerson would be an upgrade on their other present option, Mario Rui.

Emerson, however, is still keen to stay at Stamford Bridge, with the 25-year-old recently denying he had fallen out with Frank Lampard.

“The world is going through a really difficult moment and there are journalists who want to spread fake news around to have content,” Emerson posted in an Instagram story.

“I don’t speak too much, but here is my only and last statement regarding this news.

“I never said that and I think definitely the opposite of what was mentioned, without my knowledge.”

Chelsea are already said to have lined up several potential replacements in case Emerson leaves, with the latest name to be linked being Atalanta star Robin Gosens.

Having already scouted him, the Blues have now learned the asking price for the left-back, who is on the verge of a maiden international call up for Germany.
