Serie A giants Napoli have joined the race to sign a PSG goalkeeper who is wanted by Newcastle, a report claims.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, the agent of Alphonse Areola – Mino Raiola – has met with Napoli to discuss a summer move.

Areola is expected to be bumped down the pecking order at PSG once Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon arrives in France.

The Neapolitans meanwhile are looking for a replacement for previous No.1 Pepe Reina, who joined AC Milan on a free transfer.

Recent reports have suggested that Roma are also interested in a move for Areola this summer, who is apparently a Newcastle target.

Raiola confirmed Napoli’s interest, stating: “Napoli? Yes we know of their interest but haven’t heard from anyone yet. Let’s see.”

However, the Naples club are also reportedly keen on a move for Udinese’s Alex Meret, who spent last season on loan at SPAL.
