Napoli sign long-term Man Utd target and insert €135m release clause

Napoli have completed the signing of Hirving Lozano from PSV Eindhoven in a deal which makes the striker the most expensive Mexican of all time.

The Italian giants have splashed out an initial €38m fee with another €5m laid out in bonuses, which will make the 24-year-old Napoli’s record signing.

Lozano has been heavily linked with Manchester United over the last 18 months with Tottenham also believed to be interested in the forward.

Reports even suggested that the Mexico international was ‘dreaming’ of a switch to Old Trafford, and had taken steps towards that by declaring his intention to move this summer.

Lozano told Voetbal International: “I think I’m ready to take a step forward. But it makes no sense to talk about things that could happen, my heart is with PSV and I’m not sure what will happen tomorrow.”

Napoli though registered their interest in Lozano and he has signed for the Serie A club on a deal believed to be for five years.

According to reports in Italy, there will be a €135m release clause in Lozano’s Napoli deal.

The 24-year-old leaves Eindhoven having contributed 40 goals and 23 assists in 79 appearances in two years in Holland.
