Alex Neil: Happy with Hawthorns victory

Norwich City manager Alex Neil says his team will take “great confidence” from their stunning 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Goals from Cameron Jerome and Alex Tettey secured all three points for the Canaries in Manchester United’s first home league defeat of the season.

And the Norwich boss says that he is “really pleased” after his side picked up their first win in five matches.

Speaking after the game, the Scotsman said: “I’m really pleased for the players because they worked hard.

“A lot of questions have been posed of myself and the best way to answer is to try and win games.

“So to come here and get a result at a very difficult place, I am just really pleased for everyone involved.

“The players deserve all the credit. Carrying out a plan is difficult but we were strong and we got the ball down.

“United hadn’t lost here in the league. For us to come out on top speaks volumes of my team. We’ll take great confidence.

“I’m delighted for the players. For how hard we worked, I thought we deserved to win.”

Norwich are now 16th in the Premier League and face fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Boxing Day.
