Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona have all been making checks on talented Red Bull Leipzig defender Dayotchanculle Upamecano, according to a report.

The 19-year-old has been earning rave reviews in the Bundesliga and has made 21 Bundesliga starts this season, helping his club into fourth place in the table.

According to La Provence, the powerful centre-back is being tracked by some of Europe’s heavyweights with Barca, Liverpool and Man Utd all understood to be admirers.

Leipzig though are well aware of his ability and tied him to a four-and-a-half- year contract, which will tie him to the club until 2021, when he arrived from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2017 for €10million.

The German press also report the France U21 star is on a monthly salary of €200,000 and has a release clause set at €100million.

Asked about his value, he told La Provence: “I do not want to talk about it. Since I was little, I know what I want, I work every day to reach the highest level and I know that I still miss a lot of things, I have to work in many areas: anticipation, reaction, passing forward, I still have a job, and here I learn.”

The Valenciennes youth product, who has made 35 appearances in all competitions this season, had admitted he is happy in Germany and is in no rush to follow Naby Keita to Anfield this summer.

Asked if he will stay at Leipzig this summer, he added: “I’m there and I feel very good, everything is going well with the coach, the staff and the whole team.We will see what the future holds, but in the meantime, I keep my feet on earth, I’m here and not elsewhere.”
