New suitors emerge for Arsenal star as three-way transfer tussle intensifies

Three clubs are monitoring Alexandre Lacazette amid uncertainties over his Arsenal future, according to a report.

Lacazette is out of contract in 2022 and talks over a renewal have been put on hold. Mikel Arteta is keen to keep him, but the Frenchman may have other ideas. If he cannot be convinced to stay, Arsenal would have to sell him quickly to avoid losing him for free.

Reports earlier this month suggested the writing was on the wall and Arsenal would sell Lacazette this summer. A number of clubs have already shown an interest, such as Monaco.

A separate report claimed that his agent was trying to talk Barcelona and Juventus into bidding for him. But instead, different clubs in La Liga and Serie A are now being linked.

According to ESPN, the battle to sign Lacazette now includes Sevilla, Roma and Atletico Madrid.

Interest from Atletico is nothing new. There was talk of a move to the Spanish capital last summer, when Thomas Partey was linked with a move in the opposite direction. Ultimately, Partey’s move to Arsenal went through without Lacazette leaving.

After the parted company with Diego Costa in the winter, though, Atletico could be looking for a new striker. They will not have lost sight of Lacazette.

Arteta: Lacazette happy at Arsenal

Arteta: Lacazette happy at Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says striker Alexandre Lacazette is 'happy' at the club amid transfer speculation surrounding the Frenchman.

However, Sevilla are also keen to take him to La Liga. Their main centre-forward, Youssef En-Nesyri, is attracting interest from elsewhere, so they may need a replacement.

One of En-Nesyri’s suitors is West Ham, but they were unable to talk Sevilla into selling in January. The Spanish club may be unable to fend off interest in the summer though and could look to Lacazette as a replacement.

As for Roma, the Italian side see a centre-forward as one of the missing pieces in their squad. Edin Dzeko is approaching the end of his career and the Serie A club want someone more prolific up front.

Lacazette has been on their radar for a few months and the conditions may be in place for them to make a move.

Arsenal have Lacazette replacement in mind

Reports earlier this month named Arsenal’s possible replacement for Lacazette if they have to sell.

According to Calciomercato, they would be interested in Andre Silva, who has also been linked with Manchester United.

The Portugal international has been in fine form for Eintracht Frankfurt this season. However, the German club may be open to selling him if they can sign Luka Jovic permanently after his loan from Real Madrid.

That may provide Arsenal with an opportunity to snatch Silva away.
