New York Red Bulls defender Miazga ‘set for Prem move’

Matt Miazga (left): Branded the 'best defender in the MLS'
New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga is set to complete a transfer to the Premier League this week, according to reports.
Miazga is considered one of the brightest young talents in US football, and reports suggest he will be moving to an unnamed Premier League club in the January transfer window.
The talented youngster has been scouted by Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City, and will cost a relatively cheap £3.5million as he has only one year remaining on his current contract.
As Miazga owns a Polish passport, he does not have to apply for a work permit so therefore that would not be an issue in any potential move for the 20-year-old.
According to the Daily Mail, the club that wins the race for the signature of the highly sought-after defender have to give assurances that he will be given the chance of a first-team breakthrough.
Having represented both USA and Poland at junior international level, Maizga recently made his debut for the US senior team, who won the race for his services.
The 6ft 4in defender has been branded as the ‘best defender in the MLS’, and US national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann is said to have welcomed the move provided he is given the opportunity to play.
Miazga has made clear his ambitions to one day play in the Premier League, and the question now is which club will win the race for his signature.
Speaking in a recent interview, Miazga said: “The English Premier League is a very intriguing proposition for me.
“There is a lot of passion involved; hopefully one day I will have the opportunity to play there.”
