Joselu: Celebrates scoring in Stoke City's win over Norwich City

Newcastle are reportedly set to complete the signing of striker Joselu from Stoke once the Potters land PSG star Jese Rodriguez.

Mark Hughes’ men are looking to get Rodriguez on a season-long loan and once the deal has been done then Joselu is expected to seal a switch to St James’ Park for a fee of around £5million.

Joselu scored four goals for the Potters in 2015-16 but spent last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna in Spain, where he netted five times in 20 games.

The Stoke Sentinel claims that Toon boss Rafael Benitez is aware of the 27-year-old’s talents from his time in the Real Madrid youth team and believes the player can succeed in England’s top flight.

Joselu missed Stoke’s 1-0 defeat at Everton on Saturday as he was said to be locked in talks to join the Magpies.

As for Rodriguez, the 24-year-old has failed to make an impact at PSG since a £22m switch from Real Madrid last summer and he was loaned back to Spain for the second half of last term.

Stoke are on the look out for two or three more signings before the window closes after the Potters lost the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Jonathan Walters, Glenn Whelan and Phil Bardsley this summer.
