Newcastle are reportedly set to rival Wolves for versatile Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles this summer.

Sky Sports claims that Toon boss is monitoring the 22-year-old’s developments, who could cost around £20million.

Maitland-Niles enjoyed a impressive 2019/20 campaign, playing in 32 games in all competitions and scoring once. He also added two assists.

He also started Arsenal’s FA Cup final win against Frank Lampard’s Chelsea as a left wing-back.

Maitland-Niles has the ability to play in numerous positions, including full-back and as an out and out winger.

And with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta set to rebuild his squad this summer, the youngster has been mentioned as one of a number of exits.

Maitland-Niles a serial winner

Despite his young age, Maitland-Niles is already a serial winner – claiming three FA Cup successes. He was also a member of the England Under-20 that won the World Cup in 2017.

Both Newcastle and Wolves are on the hunt for fresh additions to their squad. And Maitland-Niles is a prime target given their preference to play with wing-backs.

The youngster has also been linked with Brighton and a potentially surprise switch to Tottenham this summer.
