Newcastle keen on rescuing Man Utd man on loan

Newcastle United will try and rescue Luke Shaw from his Manchester United nightmare in January, according to a report.

The Sunday Mirror reports that Rafa Benitez is keen on the 22-year-old left-back, who joined United for £30million in 2014 from Southampton.

Shaw has played just 48 minutes in two Carabao Cup games this campaign, while he has only made the bench once in the Premier League – against Newcastle.

He was again left out of the matchday squad against Brighton on Saturday and The Sun claimed recently that Shaw was available for loan in January with rumours  he was not on speaking terms with Jose Mourinho.

After the Burton cup game in September Mourinho admitted Shaw needs to get better.

“You [media] saw the [Burton] game, you saw the same as I see, so are you asking if he plays tomorrow? No, he is not playing tomorrow. He has to work. He has to improve,”  said Mourinho.

With just 32 Premier League appearances for United to his name in over three years, a loan move to Newcastle could be exactly what Shaw needs.
