One Newcastle star has reportedly told his friends that he has never seen anything like the ‘meltdown’ the Magpies are going through.
A run of only four wins in 20 Premier League games has sucked Steve Bruce‘s men into a relegation scrap.
With nine games to go, the Magpies sit 17th, two points above 18th-placed Fulham. Indeed, the two clubs meet on the final day of the season, which could yet prove decisive.
However, off-field issues have also plagued the North East club in recent weeks, a bust-up between manager Steve Bruce and winger Matt Ritchie chief among them.
However, a fresh report from Football Insider claims to reveal one player’s stance on the situation.
The player, who the report only names as an ‘experienced international’ has reportedly told friends that he has ‘never’ seen a club and dressing room collapse like Newcastle’s has.
What’s more, the player has never seen anything ‘comparable’ to the Magpies’ ‘meltdown’.
The Daily Mail claimed recently that Bruce has scheduled more days off his players, something which has bewildered stars.
Newcastle return to action on April 4, when they play top-four chasing Tottenham at St James’ Park.
However, they also have to play Liverpool, West Ham, Leicester, Manchester City and Arsenal before the end of the season.
Indeed, their trips to Anfield and the King Power Stadium come either side of the clash with Arsenal.
Therefore, Newcastle’s current form does not bode well for their run-in. They had the chance to push away from the bottom end of the table on Saturday, but lost 3-0 to Brighton.
Newcastle eye Prem centre-back
Despite the uncertainty over Bruce’s tenure and their Premier League survival, though, Newcastle have reportedly begun to look at summer targets.
West Brom centre-back Kyle Bartley is supposedly on their radar to bolster their ranks.
The 29-year-old has helped to keep three clean sheets in his past five games.
