Newcastle United have agreed to send Ivan Toney out on loan, with a number of Championship and League One clubs chasing the striker, sources have told TEAMtalk.
Toney joined Newcastle in the summer from Northampton Town with the 19-year-old seen as one for the future at St James’ Park.
Toney made his Premier League debut during the 2-2 draw with Chelsea in September and has also appeared twice in the Capital One Cup.
The talented forward has impressed for Newcastle’s Under-21s scoring five goals this season and scouts from the Football League have been keeping tabs on his situation on Tyneside.
Newcastle boss Steve McClaren feels Toney would be best served to go out on loan to get regular first-team football feeling playing for the Under-21s will not be best for the development of the player.
Burton Albion have expressed an interest in Toney, but the Brewers face competition for his signature with a number of Championship and League One sides hoping to land the player before the loan window closes later this month.
