Newcastle are mulling offering a Manchester United star a way out in January, though the player’s agent has already commenced talks with a second suitor, per a transfer source.

With Newcastle United’s Saudi-led takeover completed, all eyes are on who the Magpies will sign in January. A plethora of major names have already been linked across all departments of their squad.

Now, per Gazzetta dello Sport journalist, Nicolo Shira, Newcastle reportedly wish to bolster their midfield by signing wantaway Manchester United flop, Donny Van de Beek.

The 24-year-old has struggled to make a tangible impact since moving to Old Trafford from Ajax in 2020. That was despite a hefty initial outlay of £35m prompting high hopes he would quickly adapt.

The Dutchman was heavily linked with Everton over the summer, and recent reports have suggested that move could be revisited in the winter window.

Citing the surprise resurgences of both Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend, former Premier League full-back Alan Hutton recently explained why Goodison Park would be the ideal place for Van de Beek to spark his stalling career.

But per Shira, Newcastle are in the mix too. Shira tweeted ‘Newcastle also want him’ after initially detailing the beginnings of Juventus’ approach.

Bruno Fernandes is said to be pushing Manchester United to move for Leeds' Raphinha, with more updates on Dusan Vlahovic and Noa Lang.

Shira reiterated that a January exit for Van de Beek is a distinct possibility. He then stated Juventus chief Federico Cherubini has already made contact with Van de Beek’s agent, Guido Albers.

The Turin club are reportedly seeking a ‘loan deal with an option to buy’. And if Shira’s tweet is accurate, Newcastle and also Everton have their work cut out to sign the midfielder after Juventus took their first step toward a deal.

Solskjaer’s tactical nous slammed

Meanwhile, Netherlands assistant coach Danny Blind has slammed Solskjaer’s tactical awareness and feels any success Manchester United have is down to individual brilliance.

The 60-year-old father of ex-Red Devil Daley Blind said (via the Mail“What is the identity of this team? What is his plan? It is exactly that what is missing with Solskjaer.

“There is not a tactical plan. His team are not able to put pressure on their opponents like Manchester City.

“It does not always have to be full pressing. But we don’t see any of it – everything in the United team is based on the individual qualities of players.

“They have those qualities and it often gets a result for the team. But it is never a team result. It has not been looking good in a number of matches. United struggle to be dominant – that is the whole problem.”

Blind went on to claim Solskjaer is living off his past glories and even questioned whether the return of Ronaldo is actually hindering the team.
