Premier League duo Newcastle and West Ham are in pursuit of Genk attacker Mbwana Samatta, according to BBC reporter Ian Dennis.

The journalist stated, via his Twitter account, that the Hammers, as well as Newcastle, were interested in signing the 26-year-old forward – who is said to have a release around the £10million mark.

Samatta scored against Liverpool in the Champions League in midweek and has eight goals already this season after featuring 18 times across all competitions.

He also impressed in the European clash against Jurgen Klopp’s men in Belgium two weeks ago and has the type of build and hold-up play that could see him become a hit in England.

Mbwana is also a Tanzania international and has scored 18 goals in 51 appearances for his country.
