Neymar has reportedly filed a new lawsuit against Barcelona for €3.5million, claiming that they acted in “bad faith” during his PSG move.
Spanish newspaper El Mundo have claimed that the 27-year-old is suing his former club for £2.96m due to an unpaid portion of his salary and bonuses.
The report also states that Neymar believes Barcelona acted in “bad faith” and in “retaliation” for his world-record £198m move to French giants PSG in 2017.
Despite the report, the superstar’s father Neymar Santos Sr spoke with radio programme ‘El Larguero’ – which is broadcast by Spanish radio network Cadena SER – and said it “corresponds to an old lawsuit when Neymar left Barcelona”.
“We felt we were negatively affected at that time,” he added.
Neymar Sr also spoke about the relationship between Neymar and the Catalan giants in a report in the Daily Mirror: “We want to reach an agreement with Barca, it is what’s best for everyone.
“We have never had a bad relationship with (Josep Maria) Bartomeu. We do not know if we will return to Barcelona, he has a contract with PSG right now.”
Josep Maria Bartomeu, 56, took over the presidency of Barcelona in 2014, while Neymar was involved in a legal case with Barca shortly after his record-transfer to PSG for €222m in 2017.
The Brazilian claimed Barcelona still owed him part of a €64.4m (£54.5m) renewal bonus. The case has not been settled.
According to El Larguero, Barca have reportedly confirmed the lawsuit concerning the footballer’s salary but have not paid it as they are waiting for the first one, in regards to his renewal bonus, to be settled first.
