Neymar has warned Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp that Philippe Coutinho has been left distraught at having his dream move to Barcelona blocked.
Barcelona were trying to sign Coutinho all summer, but Liverpool have stood firm and are believed to have knocked back at least three bids from Catalonia.
Barca were looking to Coutinho to replace Neymar, who left for PSG for £199million earlier in the window.
Coutinho, 25, has not featured fro Liverpool this season after struggling with a back complaint, but he trained for Brazil this week and came on as sub ans scored in Thursday’s 2-0 win over Ecuador.
“He was rewarded with a goal today, for his and our joy,” said Neymar.
“Unfortunately, instead of being a happy time for him, for his family, it’s a moment of anguish, disappointment and sadness. I like to see him happy because he is a team-mate and a friend that I’ve had for a long time.”
Coutinho will fly back from Brazil’s World Cup qualifier in Colombia next Wednesday and Klopp will have the task of reintegrating the midfielder back into the squad.
Brazil coach Tite was asked about Coutinho: “Of course it affects him,” he said.
