West Ham have seen a €25m offer for Nikola Milenkovic turned down, it has been revealed.
Milenkovic has been heavily linked with a Premier League move in recent weeks. The defender is out of contract with Fiorentina in 2022 and has little intention to extend.
At 23 years old, he has plenty of experience but still potential to grow. Able to play as a centre-back or a right-back, he could be a wise addition for any Premier League team.
But according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it is a different Premier League side who have made the first move.
Romano claims that West Ham lodged a €25m bid for Milenkovic – only for Fiorentina to turn it down. Even so, the Serie A club are still bracing themselves for further offers.
Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano said: “Milenkovic is not going to extend with Fiorentina.
“West Ham offered €25m and Fiorentina said no. They were asking for €40m in my opinion.
“Manchester United have always been scouting him. He has huge chances to move to England.”
Milenkovic has made more than 100 appearances for Fiorentina since joining them in 2017. However, he could soon be set for a new adventure in the Premier League.
Man Utd are looking for a centre-back partner for Harry Maguire. Milenkovic seems to be one of the main players they are considering.
Sevilla star also scouted
Another name on Manchester United’s shortlist is Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde.
Reports elsewhere indicate that United have sent scouts to watch Kounde in action this month. He would cost more than Milenkovic, with a price tag between €70m and €90m.
However, he too has big potential, so may be a player worth investing in.
