Highly-rated defender ‘fancies’ Everton move but problems to be solved

In-demand Norwich defender Max Aarons is said to be keen on a summer switch to Everton but a familiar problem could thwart the move.
Aarons, 21, has been turning heads with his displays for the Canaries in 2020-2021. The England Under-21 ace has been the model of consistency, starting 40 Championship games for the East Anglians. And it seems as though his contribution will lead to an immediate return to the Premier League for Daniel Farke’s side.
Norwich are eight points clear of Watford at the top of the second-tier standings. The Carrow Road outfit require just two more points to secure their place back in the promised land.
And that could come on Saturday as they entertain Bournemouth. Aarons has been a revelation at right-back and is not short of suitors.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been mentioned in connection with the player this year. Everton have also been linked while Aston Villa appeared to enter the race late last month.

Reports in The Telegraph suggests that the Hammersmith-born youngster favours a move to Goodison Park. That will please Carlo Ancelotti who is said to be a big fan and wants to lure him to Merseyside in the off-season.
However, any club wanting Aarons’ signature will have to dig deep. Norwich are said to want £30m for their star performer and will not back down over the finances involved.
Whether that price tag scares any of the interested parties only time will tell. But they will be getting a man who has already made 36 top-flight appearances during the club’s relegation season of 2019-2020.

There is also the spectre of Bayern Munich lurking in the background. The German giants have reportedly sent scouts to watch him for the past two years.
Clubs’ history might smooth deal for Aarons
Everton do have recent history of doing business with the Championship pacesetters. They signed centre-back Ben Godfrey last summer and he has settled in well at the club.
Ancelotti admitted his surprise at just how good he is and a reunion with Aarons might be on the cards. But the finances involved may be a stumbling block.
And, with Norwich certain to be playing in the Premier League next term, the starlet could choose to stay.
It looks set to be a busy summer of negotiations for a player who has the footballing world at his feet.
