Emi Buendia breaks silence over proposed January transfer to Arsenal

Emiliano Buendia TEAMtalk

Norwich playmaker Emiliano Buendia has spoken about the recent transfer speculation that has seen Arsenal heavily linked with the Argentine.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has already shipped out Saed Kolasinac and William Saliba on loan, but he is also looking at new recruits.

Fabrizio Romano, writing for CBS Sports, as cited by HITC, has claimed the Gunners boss ‘expects’ a signing to take place this month.

“Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expects a quality midfielder in January as a reinforcement.”

Isco, Julian Brandt and Buendia have all been linked with a move to The Emirates and the latter has spoken about the speculation.

Asked if he was intent on a return to the Premier League, Buendia told Radio Residencias in Argentina (via Metro): “Yes, I always say it.

“It is the best league in the world, it is the one that makes the difference at all levels. Any team makes life difficult for anyone, it is very complicated.

“Their organisational level is perfect, the stadiums have a lot of history, the conditions for playing football are ideal. There are no excuses. And the players and the teams are the best.

“I aspire to the best and work every day to get back to it, either in my team or through a transfer. Returning to the Premier in the short term is a dream.

“It is true that there was a lot of talk in the summer, after relegation, about the possibility that both I and other teammates could leave the team to continue in the Premier League.”

Buendia: ‘I belong to Norwich’

Buendia has been impressive for the Canaries this season and has been the driving force behind their push for promotion. The 24-year-old has scored seven goals and grabbed seven assists in 19 appearances in the Championship this season.

The Mar del Plata-born midfielder says he is “feeling important” and focused on getting Norwich back into the top flight.

Buendia added: “However, I always had my head with the club. I belong to Norwich, I have to do things well for my team. Tomorrow we will see, but I never had my head outside the objectives, to work so that my club does well.

“As this season unfolds, we are doing well and I am very happy to be here. We are in a good position, I am feeling important, I am scoring goals and making assists for my teammates.”

With cash tight, Arsenal are reportedly willing to offer players as part of their bid for Buendia. However, Norwich are looking for £40m for the player, according to The Metro.
