Shock omissions of Liverpool, Arsenal men in FIFPro World XI shortlist

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have not made the FIFPro World XI shortlist.

The 55-man shortlist has been announced and for the first time since 2009, the Premier League has more players on the shortlist than any other league (21) with LaLiga in second.

Henderson though, who capped a fine 44-game season with two European trophies, has not made the 15-man midfield shortlist.

The 29-year-old skippered Liverpool to a brilliant 4-0 semi-final win over Barcelona, then guided the Reds to Champions League glory and not to mention winning the Super Cup last month.

The Sunderland midfielder though has failed to make it alongside the likes of Christian Eriksen, N’Golo Kante, Eden Hazard and Paul Pogba.

Despite hitting 31 goals last season Aubameyang was also missing from the 15-man forward list, which includes Sergio Aguero, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Raheem Sterling.

The five goalkeepers nominated were Alisson, David de Gea, Ederson, Jan Oblak and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

While, Virgil Van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker have all been named on the 20-man defenders list.
