Nuno confirms Monday showdown with Tottenham plans to ‘integrate’ Kane

Harry Kane England Wembley TEAMtalk

Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed Harry Kane is now back in solo training and he will meet with the wantaway striker to discuss his future on Monday.

Kane has yet to join his team-mates in pre-season training after being granted extended leave following Euro 2020. It was thought he would be back last Monday but was a no-show at Spurs training ground. He was immediately slated  in the media, with Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville having his say.

“If Harry Kane was meant to report to pre-season training with Tottenham on Monday, then he should’ve come back,” he told Sky Sports. “You can never advocate any player not turning up for training – it’s as simple as that.”

Negative comments continued throughout the week until the Three Lions skipper responded. He took to Twitter to reveal he was not due back on the date reported and had not disrespected the club.

“While I won’t go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train. I will be returning to the club tomorrow, as planned,” he tweeted.

“I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardise the relationship I have with the fans who have given me such unwavering support during my time with the club. This has always been the case as it is today. Harry.”

Spurs were in pre-season action on Sunday as they faced north London rivals Arsenal. Son Heung-min’s second-half strike was enough to hand the Lilywhites a 1-0 victory.

But the post-match talk mostly centred on the Kane saga. And the Portuguese tactician confessed that Tottenham’s star striker is back at the club.

Transfer Chatter - Messi race begins, Arsenal plotting double swoop and Manchester United's bleak Trippier hopes

The breaking news on Thursday evening ignited the beginning of the race for free agent Lionel Messi, Arsenal are preparing a double swoop from Yorkshire and Manchester United have bleak hopes of signing Kieran Trippier this transfer window, all in today's transfer chatter.

“Yes it’s true. Harry is with us. He has to quarantine,” he told reporters, per The Mirror. “He is in the lodge but he is training.

“Already made the first day with the sports scientists. He is with us. Good.”

Kane following Covid procedures before integration

Manchester City are known to want him but are unwilling to pay the £160m asking price. After returning from his holiday Kane has had to isolate.

He has been working on his own and Nuno now plans face-to-face dialogue with the star.

“We expect to integrate Harry when he follows all the protocols that we have to apply,” Nuno added. “We have processes and we have to be very strict and not take any chances as one of the things, as everyone has learned, is the pandemic is still here so we have to be really careful.

Nuno Espirito Santo Wolves farewell TEAMtalk

“I will speak with Harry probably as soon as possible because he is already at The Lodge.

“Not today, because today was the day of the match, but we have a training session tomorrow and with social distancing hopefully I will speak with Harry.”
