Man City star offered to Barcelona amid fears of double raid

Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko in a potential double raid on Manchester City, according to reports.

Zinchenko has spent most of his professional career at Manchester City, whom he joined from Ufa in 2016.

The Ukraine international has progressed in the seasons that have followed, maturing into a versatile player who can play in midfield or at left-back.

However, he would probably not make it into Pep Guardiola’s strongest XI. He only played in half of City’s Premier League games last season.

In fact, Zinchenko has only played in eight more Premier League games in total than he has international games for Ukraine overall.

Therefore, there may come a time in the future when he looks for more opportunities elsewhere, even though he only signed a contract extension through to 2024 last year.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Zinchenko has been offered to Barcelona. However, the Catalan club are yet to open negotiations with Man City.

The Spanish source says Barca are keeping him in mind in case they need to strengthen their left flank. It is unlikely they would make a move for Zinchenko unless they sold either Junior Firpo or Juan Miranda.

Should either of the duo depart, though, Barcelona could think back to the 24-year-old.

Garcia also a target for Barca

Zinchenko, of course, is not the only City player Barcelona could be considering.

The La Liga giants remain fond of Eric Garcia, a player who left their academy to join City in 2017. The defender is now keen to return to his hometown club.

With just a year left on his deal at the Etihad Stadium, Garcia is expecting to see out his contract before re-joining Barcelona in 2021.

However, some reports claim Barcelona could still make a move for the teenager before the transfer deadline.
