Lampard has food for thought as two targets told they can leave

Barkley Lampard TEAMtalk

Ajax duo Andre Onana and Nicolas Tagliafico have been told by Erik ten Hag that they can leave this summer.

Both players have been linked with a move to Chelsea and Frank Lampard’s ears will have pricked up at Ten Hag’s latest comments.

Lampard is mulling over a move for full-back Tagliafico if he cannot prise Ben Chilwell away from Leicester.

The Sun claims Chelsea have been offered the Ajax left-back for £23m and that deal will be significantly cheaper than a move for England man Chilwell.

Meanwhile, the future of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalage is also far from assured and if Valencia come in with a two-year loan deal for the Spaniard, then Lampard could go for Onana.

Last month The Transfer Window Podcast reported that Manchester United were still tracking the 24-year-old Cameroon international.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was pondering a move last summer before David de Gea penned a new deal.

What’s clear now is that Onana, Donny van de Beek and Tagliafico have agreements in place to leave this summer.

“The transfer market will start in August – the top leagues are now being played out, so the money flows are maintained,” Ten Hag told Het Parool.

Ajax trio told they can all leave

“The market value of players will be slightly depressed, but not much. Based on their performance and ambition, a number of our players also want to make the move abroad.

“Agreements have been made with Andre Onana, Donny van de Beek and Nicolas Tagliafico, but it remains to be seen whether the market is indeed breaking loose.

“For Onana and Van de Beek, another year of Ajax could certainly be an option, for Tagliafico it is slightly different because of his age.

“In the preparation I am going to try Lisandro Martínez in that position. He has also played in midfield with us, but he is a defender.”
