One out the door at West Ham as Pedro Obiang moves to Italy

Pedro Obiang: Linked with a shock move to Liverpool

West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang has joined Serie A side Sassuolo for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £7.2million.

The 27-year-old spent four years at the Premier League club after joining in the summer of 2015 from Italian outfit Sampdoria.

Obiang scored three times during 116 appearances for the Hammers.

Obiang won West Ham’s goal of the season award during the 2017-18 campaign for a 30-yard shot against Tottenham at Wembley.

The Spanish-born Obiang, who earned his first international caps for Equatorial Guinea during his time with the Hammers, began his career as a youth player for Atletico Madrid before moving to Italy.

West Ham said in a statement: “West Ham United would like to thank Pedro for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future.”
