Otamendi to reject Man Utd move – Report
Louis Van Gaal had already been dealt a blow in his chase for a central defender this summer after Sergio Ramos reportedly committed his future to Real Madrid, and now Otamendi has apparently rejected United’s advances in favour of staying at Valencia this season.
The Argentinean has previously admitted his desire to join the Premier League side, while bitter rivals Manchester City have also been credited with an interest.
However, Valencia-based newspaper Super Deporte report that the 27-year-old, who attended training for the first time this summer on Monday, has had a change of heart and will remain at the Mestalla.
Attentions now turn to United’s next central defensive target, with Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling their current senior options. After signing five players for just under £80million so far this summer, Van Gaal is thought to be keen to strengthen his defensive options.
