The midfielder had been managing a twinge in his hamstrings for several games but the injury forced him off after only 10 minutes against Mansfield last weekend. Scans have revealed a tear to one of the muscles and it will be around six weeks until Donaldson is fit again.
Goalkeeper Chris Dunn is another who will not feature again this season as he requires a wrist operation, so 21-year-old Will Norris will don the gloves for only the second time this campaign.
Liam Hughes (virus) remains out while Rory Gaffney and Luke Chadwick are still recovering from operations. Ian Miller (knee) is set to undergo surgery on Thursday.
