Jack Wilshere: Joins Bournemouth on loan

Alan Pardew says Jack Wilshere is just one of a number of targets being pursued on Deadline Day, but the Crystal Palace boss is already delighted with his business.

Wilshere was made available for loan this week with Arsenal keen to see the midfielder get game-time after a couple of injury-hit seasons.

Palace are one of 22 clubs who reportedly registered their interest in the 24-year-old, with the Eagles and Bournemouth said to be favourites before Roma swooped in this morning.

It remains unclear which destination Wilshere will choose but Pardew believes any deal for the England star would round off perfectly the summer transfer window.

“Jack is a player that became available yesterday, so it would be silly not to get involved in that,” he told Sky Sports.

“Obviously there’s a lot of clubs that would like Jack, and I guess we’re one of them. But we’ve done so great in this window, it really would be the icing on the cake if we could get him across the line.

“We’ve got other targets that we’re pursuing as well today, so we’re having a look at those as much as we’re looking at Jack. In terms of where we stand, if we didn’t get anyone across the line I’d still be very, very pleased.”
