An Arsenal and Chelsea attacking target has penned a new five-year deal in Germany, while a Bundesliga club has bid £22million for an Everton star, according to Monday’s papers.
ARSENAL, CHELSEA ATTACKING TARGET PENS NEW LEVERKUSEN DEAL
Arsenal and Chelsea have suffered a transfer blow after target Leon Bailey signed a new five-year contract at Bayer Leverkusen.
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a host of clubs, including the Premier League duo, with a fee of £40m being mooted.
Italian side Roma were the latest club to be linked with a move for the pacy winger last week, but Bailey has moved to end speculation over his future by opting to extend his stay at Leverkusen until 2023.
The attacker revealed earlier this summer that there was a lot of “concrete interest” in him.
He told Kicker: “There’s a lot of interest. What I can say is that my full focus is on developing myself as a young player, and that’s what I focus on.
“If a club wants me, my management and Bayer 04 will take care of it.”
However, it would now appear that Bailey will be staying at Leverkusen for the foreseeable future – while there is also no mention of an escape clause being written into the new contract.
