Arsenal have stepped up their chase for a Barcelona star after Everton bid for the player, while West Ham could make a shock move for a Juventus forward – all in Thursday’s papers.
ARSENAL TO RIVAL EVERTON FOR BRAZILIAN
Arsenal have stepped up their chase for Barcelona winger Malcom after Everton reportedly bid £31.5m to sign the Brazilian.
A report in The Sun claims that the Merseyside outfit are confident of clinching a deal for the 22-year-old over the coming days.
However, Gunners boss Unai Emery has identified the player as an alternative to top target Wilfried Zaha and Arsenal are trying to persuade Malcom to delay a move to Goodison while they attempt to negotiate with Barca.
Emery is said to have all but given up on landing Zaha after his £40m bid — which is half what Crystal Palace are asking for — was rejected.
Arsenal, however, are still hoping Zaha will hand in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move to the Emirates.
The report goes on to state that the north London giants will struggle to match Everton’s offer for Malcom and will try to persuade Barcelona to accept staggered payments.
But the Catalan side want to raise quick cash to fund moves for Neymar and Antoine Griezmann – leaving Everton in the boxseat for the attacker.
