Arsenal are close to reaching agreement over a loan swoop for an unsettled Barcelona star, while Manchester City are weighing up a January approach for a £40m Tottenham and Man Utd target, according to Sunday’s newspapers.
ARSENAL STEP UP INTEREST IN MALCOM LOAN
Arsenal are closing on a loan move for Barcelona flop Malcom in January, according to various reports on Sunday.
Both the Daily Star Sunday and the Sunday Express claim the Brazilian – who moved to the Nou Camp at the start of the season in a £40m switch from Bordeaux – is the subject of genuine interest from the Gunners, who are looking to add more natural width to their attack in January.
Malcom moved to Barcelona after rejecting Roma at the 11th hour, while there was also interest from the Premier League in the shape of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham.
But after the player reportedly expressed his frustration with life on the Barcelona bench – he has figured in just 25 minutes so far this season – it seems Barca are willing to let him move on loan for the second half of the season.
Spanish newspaper Sport suggests Arsenal can soon tie up an agreement for Malcom, which will be agreed at the back end of the January window and assuming his first-team prospects at Barcelona don’t improve by then.
