Arsenal are set to make a bid for Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan, while Manchester United and Chelsea could move for PSG star Marco Verratti, according to Thursday’s newspapers.
Gunners plan swoop for Turan
Arsenal will bid for Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan as they prepare for the possible summer departures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.
The Gunners are likely to raise some funds in the summer if they decide to let their star duo leave and have targeted Turan as a replacement for Ozil.
Turan has only made 13 starts in La Liga this season and has struggled to make an impact since his move from Atletico Madrid in 2015.
The Times reports that Arsenal have made the Turkey international their top target and will make a £25million bid in an attempt to land him in the summer.
The 30-year-old has three years left on his contract at the Camp Nou but could face the chop with Barca likely to have a new manager at the helm next season.
Premier League giants look to land ‘unhappy’ Verratti
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti could be set for a big-money move in the summer, according to reports.
The Daily Mirror claims that Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea could be two of the teams heading up the chase for the ‘unhappy’ star.
The Italy international’s agent, Donato di Campl, claims that the 24-year-old wasn’t pleased with the manner of PSG’s exit to Barcelona in the Champions League and could leave in the next transfer window.
“The situation is very complicated – he has a very good contract until 2021,” Di Campli Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He wants to win and PSG, like it is, cannot win. He has been in Paris for five years now and he has to make a decision: earn a lot and not win or earn and become a champion.
“It is not a problem of money. Whoever signs Verratti will pay him a lot of money. One thing is certain: if he leaves PSG, it will be for a top European club.
“There are some top Italian clubs but I have my doubts Italy will be his final destination. Spain, the Premier League or the Bundesliga? A top European club.”
