Paper Talk: Big developments in Man Utd’s £80m defender chase

Date published: Saturday 28th July 2018 9:36

There have been numerous developments in Man Utd’s pursuit of Harry Maguire, while Chelsea are lining up an Everton star, according to Saturday’s papers.

Leicester City are eyeing a replacement for Manchester United target Harry Maguire, with the club set to make a bid for a Newcastle star, a report claims.

The Foxes are worried about losing the England international, and The Sun claims that they are lining up a £35million bid for Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles.

Lascelles had an impressive season for the Magpies last campaign and was even tipped as a possible outsider for the England World Cup squad.

However, Newcastle are determined to keep hold of the 24-year-old, meaning Leicester would have to fork out a hefty fee.

Meanwhile, it is suggested by the Mirror that Manchester United will sell Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian to fund a move for Maguire.

The Independent links Wolves with a move for Rojo, while reports in Italy have linked Inter Milan and Juventus with Darmian.

Finally, the Star claims that the Red Devils will have to fork out a world record £80m for Maguire if they want to sign him this summer.
