Paper Talk: Chelsea earmark duo to replace Hazard; Klopp plea

Chelsea have lined up two potential signings to replace Eden Hazard this summer, while Jurgen Klopp is ready to demand more Liverpool signings, according to Thursday’s papers.

CHELSEA EYE DUO TO REPLACE HAZARD

Chelsea have reportedly earmarked a number of options, including Everton’s Richarlison and Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne, as they brace themselves for Eden Hazard’s possible exit.

The Belgian playmaker is expected to join Real Madrid this summer, having failed to agree a new Stamford Bridge deal with just 18 months left on his current contract.

The LaLiga giants will almost certainly have to pay a fee in excess of £100m to sign the 28-year-old and while Christian Pulisic will arrive from Borussia Dortmund, the likes of Willian, Pedro and young starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi could also be on the move come the end of the season.

Those potential exits would leave Maurizio Sarri woefully short of attacking options and the Daily Mail claims that both Richarlison and Insigne are major targets for the Blues.

Brazilian Richarlison started the season strongly for new club Everton but has faded since, something that appears to be a trend for the forward – who did likewise at Watford the campaign before.

The report goes on to state that Insigne, who is also a target for Liverpool, is more of a like for like replacement for Hazard, although the 27-year-old is valued at a whopping £140m by his club.

Jadon Sancho has of course been followed too but is still very much a work in progress and the prospect of Borussia Dortmund allowing him to go in the summer following Pulisic’s sale are minimal.

Alternatively, Chelsea like Leon Bailey at Bayer Leverkusen though he has struggled for form lately and could explore Madrid’s squad options in negotiations for Hazard.

Other options include Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho and Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey, although moves for them seem far less likely.
