Paper Talk: Chelsea ready move for Russian hitman; Mourinho has full-back in mind

Chelsea will try and sign a Russian striker in January if their transfer ban is lifted, while Jose Mourinho will swoop for a Leicester man to help steady Tottenham, all in the papers.

CHELSEA WANT CHALOV

Chelsea are interested in signing Russia’s CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov, according to Sky Sports.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is understood to be a fan of his fellow countryman and if the Blues’ transfer ban is overturned next month they will make a move for the 21-year-old.

Chalov has hit five goals in 16 appearances this term and Crystal Palace were interested in him last summer and are believed to have seen a £23million bid rejected.

However, Sky Sports News report that “CSKA are preparing for his exit during their winter break by searching for a replacement”.

Frank Lampard is bracing himself to lose Olivier Giroud, who has his eyes on more game time ahead of Euro 2020.

Crystal Palace want to sign Chelsea striker Giroud, 33, but the France international’s wage demands could prevent a deal being agreed, report the Daily Express.
