Giorgio Chiellini: Wanted by Chelsea

Chelsea have revived their interest in Juventus’ Giorgio Chiellini, while Hull City and West Brom want Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez – according to Monday’s newspapers.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has reportedly reiterated his desire to strengthen Chelsea’s defence before the transfer window closes and is preparing a ‘last-gasp’ offer for Juventus’ Giorgio Chiellini.

The former Italy boss wants to be reunited with the 32-year-old, according to The Sun, as he wants to take the pressure of first-choice centre-back pairing John Terry and Gary Cahill.

Conte has recently revaled his frustration with the ‘crazy’ transfer market, and is hoping that a £25m offer for Chiellini will be enough for the Serie A champions to part ways with their legendary defender.

The report also mentions that Stamford Bridge officials have also been in talks once again with Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

West Brom and Hull City are leading the way to sign bit-part Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez, according to the Daily Mirror.

Tony Pulis and Mike Phelan are both said to be ‘desperate’ to improve their respective squads before deadline day and are willing to take the attacker on loan for the season.

Rodriguez came on as a late substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Friday night, but would be allowed to leave St Mary’s should Claude Puel find a replacement beforehand.
