Thorgan Hazard: No advice from Eden

Chelsea could look to replace Eden Hazard with an £80m Manchester City star as the winger merry-go-round goes into overdrive, while Liverpool look set to miss out on a defensive target, according to Tuesday’s newspapers.

The newspapers have gone into overdrive over the last couple of days over speculation about which winger could move where in the summer.

The frenzy appears to stem from Manchester City’s failed bid for Riyad Mahrez on deadline day, with Tuesday’s edition of the summer, repeating claims that the Blues will make a fresh attempt to land the Algerian in the summer.

On the back of the Mahrez speculation, word is gathering pace that Chelsea are losing their battle to keep Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge this summer, with talk of a £120million switch to Real Madrid gathering pace.

And should the Belgian swap the Bridge for the Bernabeu, the Daily Star claims Chelsea will look to spend a large chunk of their windfall – £80million as it happens – on City winger Raheem Sterling.

The England man has improved leaps and bounds this season having netted 19 goals in 34 appearances, but with his contract due to expire in 2020, there is a danger he could be lured away. City have made it clear they want to keep the former Liverpool man, but the report suggests Chelsea could lure him to London should City land Mahrez.

In a final twist in what could prove a complicated four-way winger merry-go-round, Leicester hope to replace Mahrez with a Hazard of their own; reports on Monday stated they will launch a summer move for Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Thorgan Hazard.
