Paper Talk: Dzeko deal collapses; Newcastle eye £20m striker

Cristiano Ronaldo may be set to snub Manchester United in a Premier League return, while Chelsea’s deal for Edin Dzeko is on thin ice, according to Monday’s papers.

CRISTIANO’S SHOCK PREM RETURN

Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo could be set for a return to English football, but not with Manchester United.

The Sun claims that the Real Madrid forward is still unhappy in Spain after he appeared in court over allegations of unpaid tax.

The report states that Alexis Sanchez’s move to United seems to have slammed the door shut on a possible Old Trafford return.

However, that is not the only option for Cristiano to seal a return to England, as Chelsea may be a possible destination.

The Blues apparently fear losing Eden Hazard to Real or PSG this summer, and may be willing to let him leave for the former if Ronaldo was included as a counterpart.

A source reportedly told The Sun: “Ronaldo to Chelsea would be a stunning deal, but it makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

“Chelsea need more attacking players and if United don’t want Ronaldo, it’s very unlikely he would go to Liverpool or Man City because of the rivalry.”

The rumours go against comments from the Portugal international last week in which he insisted he is happy at the Bernabeu.
