Paper Talk: Klopp refuses to let Liverpool star join Roma

Liverpool have flatly refused to let a fringe attacker join Roma, while Arsenal are eyeing a shock move for a Man City star, according to Tuesday’s newspapers.

LIVERPOOL TURN DOWN ROMA OFFER FOR STAR

Liverpool have reportedly rejected an approach from Roma to buy Xherdan Shaqiri in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old has only been a bit-part player for the Reds this season, but Jurgen Klopp does not want to weaken his squad as they continue to battle on three fronts in what has been a remarkable season so far.

Shaqiri, who spent time on the sidelines through injury in 2019, has only made 10 appearances in all competitions this campaign and has scored just one goal.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, via the Daily Express, Roma want Shaqiri on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

However, Liverpool dismissed the approach out of hand.

“AS Roma today asked for Xherdan Shaqiri on loan as Zaniolo replacement,” Romano said on Twitter.

“Liverpool refused to loan him out in January. No chance.”
