Paper Talk: Klopp has advantage as Liverpool launch £85m bid

Jurgen Klopp is hopeful Liverpool can shatter their transfer record again in January, while Alexis Sanchez seems determined to quit Manchester United after getting annoyed by Jose Mourinho, according to Wednesday’s papers.

Liverpool are ready to spend a club-record £85million to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele in January, according to reports on Wednesday.

The Reds are looking for attacking reinforcements in January to further their push for Premier League title glory and Klopp believes Barcelona could be talked into selling the France winger, who has proved largely disappointing since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2017.

Barca, have however, insisted they have no wish to cash in one the France star, but The Sun ‘s exclusive reckons he fits the bill for Klopp and they reckon the Reds will submit a bid approaching his reported €100m value in the coming weeks.

Furthermore, it’s suggested Klopp has a unique advantage over the likes of Arsenal who are also keen on the winger, as it’s emerged that the Reds boss was Dembele’s landlord when the youngster first signed for Dortmund from Rennes. As a sidenote, the paper also claims, bizarrely, that Dembele ‘trashed Klopp’s house’, though we’re not sure whether that would dampen his appeal for Klopp!

Any Liverpool swoop for Dembele would shatter their club-record £75m spend last January on Virgil van Dijk.
