Tottenham are ready to step up their interest to land a £30m midfielder this summer, while Arsenal have been given hope in their bid to land a winger, according to Saturday’s papers.

TOTTENHAM STEP UP INTEREST IN £30M MIDFIELDER

Tottenham are reportedly ready to step up their efforts to sign £30m midfielder Andre Gomes, after getting the green light from chairman Daniel Levy.

Gomes has impressed during his season-long loan spell at Everton and the Toffees are desperate to sign him on a permanent deal from Barcelona this summer.

But they are set to face stiff competition from Spurs, as well as other clubs, who believe the 25 year-old could prove to be a bargain, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.

Tottenham considered signing Gomes on loan in January 2018 and have been monitoring his progress ever since.

Chief scout Steve Hitchen was at Anfield to watch Gomes in the Merseyside derby back in December and manager Mauricio Pochettino is known to be a big admirer of the player.

Spurs are looking for midfield reinforcements this summer after selling Mousa Dembele, while there are doubts over the long-term futures of Christian Eriksen and Victor Wanyama.
