Liverpool have joined the race to sign a star Serie A midfielder, while Real Madrid have switched their attentions away from Harry Kane according to Wednesday’s papers.
LIVERPOOL BATTLE MAN UTD FOR NAPOLI STAR
Liverpool and Juventus are now reportedly leading Manchester United in the race to sign Napoli star Jorginho.
According to the Daily Star, the Anfield club have stolen a march on United and are now competing with the Italian champions to sign the 26-year-old.
Jorginho has been a huge part of Napoli’s success this season as they sit four points clear of Juventus atop the Serie A table.
Manchester City have also been tipped to move for the Italy international, while Jurgen Klopp wants to add more than just RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita to his midfield.
Reports last month suggested Manchester United had reportedly held talks with the agent of Jorginho over a potential move.
Jose Mourinho is said to be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements before the winter transfer window closes on Wednesday night, despite admitting that United are unlikely to add to the signing of Alexis Sanchez this month.
The Red Devils will need to strengthen in central midfield, with Michael Carrick set to hang up his boost at the end of the season, while the futures of Marouane Fellaini and Andre Herrera also remain in doubt.
And Rai Sport claimed that United have met members of Jorginho’s entourage to discuss a summer switch to Old Trafford.
