Neven Subotic: Liverpool target

A Borussia Dortmund centre-back looks Liverpool bound and Manchester United are back on the trail of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.

Neven Subotic looks set to join Liverpool in the summer, according to reports in Germany.

Revier Sport report that Subotic will leave Dortmund and sign for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

Klopp is a big fan of the centre-back after working with him in the Bundesliga and with Kolo Toure’s contract set to expire and Mamadou Sako facing a six-month ban for failing a drugs test the German is looking to recruit an experience defender.

The 27-year-old defender former Serbia international has made 251 appearances for Borussia Dortmund since making his debut in 2008 after signing from Mainz.

Manchester United are back on the trail of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, according to the Mirror.

And the tabloid believe that the chase for Kroos means that raises more questions about Louis van Gaal’s Old Trafford tenure. The Dutch boss apparently pulled the plug on United’s deal for Kroos two years ago when David Moes was in charge. However, Moyes was sacked and Van Gaal immediately blocked the move for the Germany midfielder when he took over in the summer of 2014.

The fact that United are back in for the 26-year-old may be sign that Van Gaal’s time at United is almost up. Former Real boss Jose Mourinho has been widely tipped to takeover the United hotseat in the summer and although Mourinho left the Bernabeu before Kroos signed for the Madrid giants, Mourinho is believed to be a fan of the player.

The report also claims that United are also in the hunt for a new striker with Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on their shopping list.
